Let’s Get Ready to RumBall Cocktail

Happy December! I am sporting the warm boots, warm jackets and now craving those warm winter drink like a rum cocktail drink!

Years ago when my husband starting brewing beer again and we started entertaining at our bar in our recreational room, I started making fun little bar drink menus. I used fun fonts.  And gave the drinks fun names.  I even laminated the menu.  Wild, I know.  I had the beers he had on tap listed, our “house” wine, and some classic holiday drinks.   The Hot Buttered Rum is always a hit with me.  It’s warm, full of spices and oh so creamy.

Recently I discovered dark cherry maraschino cherries.  (The Trader Joe sample area gets me. every. time.). When I was making up my batch of homemade Hot Buttered Rum mix and spying that jar of cherries, it just became a match made for my Christmas mug.

I like my Hot Buttered Rum with a nice spiced rum and thought these cherries would compliment it nice.  And it does. Along with the shot of Cherry Brandy.  You’re ready for it now, right?!  Let’s do it…

LET’S GET READY TO RUMBALL!

Yep, grab that jar of Hot Buttered Rum mix.  And your favorite mug.  Put two scoops of mix in the mug.  Add hot water just about 3/4 of the way full.  You want to leave room for the rum and brandy.  And the zero calories whipped topping (holiday rule!).

Isn’t it dreamy?  And it’s about to get boozy…

All rum and brandy soaked. Add 1 oz. of spiced rum and 1 oz of cherry brandy. And a few cherries for soaking.

Like my sugar, I like two lumps!  Two bonus cherries on top (before they sink into the abyss).

If your just not into the whipped topping, or your kids left you a can of air, you can put a few on a drink stirrer and call it good.  And let me tell you, when you take your final sip and have those cherries that have been soaking in the HBR, you think about pouring another! And adding the jar of cherries.

  • 2 Scoops of Hot buttered Rum mix
  • 1 oz. Spiced Rum
  • 1 oz. Cherry Brandy
  • Hot water
  • dark cherry maraschinos
  • *Whipped Cream, optional
